Christmas Thoughts...122525

Luke 1:68-75

For me, Christmas is about a promise being fulfilled, or should I say, The Promise fulfilled. In the Old Testament, God has been preparing the stage for mankind's redemption from sin and its effects. His people have been wandering in the wilderness - in various deserts, forests, and in their own selfish desires that had them yearning for salvation.

As the wisest Author He is, God has placed signs along the story that point to this very day - The perfect Sacrifice, the great High Priest, the Bronze Scepter, the Kinsman-Redeemer, among many others. They all foreshadow the coming of the One who will free mankind from of the bondage of sin and death - the most wonderful promise to look forward to.

When, as you look upon your own life, you come to realize that you are truly a wretched being, why would you not want this promise fulfilled? Jesus is the solution to our greatest ailment, and the One who shows us how to life the greatest life we can here on this earth. Of course, "here" is not where our eternity will be spent; Heaven awaits those who will put their trust in Jesus. But right now, in our present state of brokenness and want, the birth of Jesus truly is a thrill of hope for a world weary from all the defects caused by our own sin.

Oh, Jesus is come! Surely, God is faithful to His promises, and He never wasted a sign. All of them point to Jesus Christ. And just like Zechariah, I will lift up my thoughts and my words to You, to bring You glory and praise for the fulfillment of every promise You made, in Jesus Christ.
